Athena Answers is a website created as a university project in the second year of a computing foundation degree. While trying to come up with a concept on which to base the project the idea came to me that I could try to ambitiously create a website that could possibly solve any problem. Having used the internet for the last decade I knew that there were hundreds of thousands of websites available and devoted to providing people with answers and information that they were looking for, so how would mine be different? That's when I started thinking about social networks. Many websites are now turning social , allowing for lists of friends, social media and recommendation systems. I thought that maybe I could use the social concept to help this process of solving problems.

This is hopefully where Athena Answers will be useful. It gives the ability to share a problem that you have only with those who you have chosen as your friends, problems that possibly no one else could help solve because they have no idea of who you are and the subject matter might be too sensitive to attached to your name publically. There is much scope for improvement and controls that let you further specify your privacy will be needed but as it stands this website can connect you directly to your friends to capture and share your opinions on all the things in life, big or small, that need solving.
